How Important Are Arterial Blood Gas Parameters for Severe Head Trauma in Children?

Aim: Our aim in this study is to consider the relationship between arterial blood gas (ABG) parameters and prognosis severe head trauma children.
 Material Methods: Patients younger than 17 years of age with a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) 8 below history were retrospectively analyzed. The relation ABG taken at time admission mortality was examined. Independent sample T-test used for pH, PCO2 base extract (BE) ABG, Mann Whitney U test PO2 lactate parameters.
 Results: 48 patients included study. Gender, age, pressure values, GCS Abbreviated Injury (AIS) scores, length stay intensive care, surgical application did not differ statistically patient groups who died survived (p> 0.05). Ph values lower, PCO2, BE found be higher deceased group compared living (p˂0.05). presence acidosis, hypercapnia, or hyperlactatemia according significantly (p˂0.05).
